Yeah! What a beautiful spring weekend! We spent most of the last few days outside at the park with the kids. I also manage {during nap/quiet time} to get quite a bit of spray painting done in the backyard, which was great!! I was enjoying being outside in a t-shirt for the first time this year so much, I didn’t remember until just now that I had forgotten to post about my pillow! I’ve finally used up the last of the linen that my sister gave me for my birthday. I made a simple cover, with an overlapping opening at the back, just like my Ballard knock off throw cushions.
I printed the image and then enlarged it using a photocopier (in mirror image of course).
I used Citra Solv to transfer the image. I think this is my favourite pillow so far… I want to make more of these!! This was the bag that inspired my pillow. I saw it in a shop in Kerrisdale a few months ago…Kathryn.

Oh gosh, such a simply beautiful pillow. I have also heard of the Sitra Solv method, to thanks for reposting on how to do, and the detail you put into it. Maybe I’ll get brave and try this method! Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration at Sunday’s Best Par.tay!

I love this pillow and delighted to see it linked up at Show & Tell. Knowing I can recreate this kind of pillow makes me feel better about putting a similar pillow back on the shelf when I was shopping yesterday. I’m so glad you published that tutorial on transfering graphic images. It is so very informative. Thanks for joining the party!

LOVE this pillow. I recently tried Citra Solv with horrible results. First, I found out that you need a toner, not laser, copier image (like the old copy machines have). I burnished my fingers off and got a very light image which then washed out (even after heat setting it first) in the washer. I need to make sure it’s washable since I’m trying to make tea towels. I also tried the freezer paper method (on wood) and it was REALLY faint. Next I’m going to try it on fabric. Stopping by from Homemaker on a dime.

Thanks! I haven’t actually tried using a print out from a laser printer (I have an inkjet, but I’ve read that other people have used laser print outs), but I have used photocopies from a copier (which I’m assuming does use toner), with success. There seems to be a lot of varying results out there – I wonder if the different “types” of CS has anything to do with it.

Love the pillow! Is there anything special to get Citrisolve to work? I’ve tried it a coupled of times, but the image won’t transfer. I did use a laser printer and I even tried a photo copy, but niether worked…

The first time I used Citra Solv it didn’t really work either… the image was so faint. I discovered that you have to burnish the back of the paper REALLY hard – so hard that a few times I’ve ripped the paper in places. I use the back of a spoon to do this, and after doing an image my hand is usually sore!! I’ve done several images onto fabric recently without a problem – I think I’ve used both inkjet and laser copies. Hope this helps. I did a post comparing Citra Solv and the Freezer Paper Transfer method a while back as a guest post at HomeSavvyAtoZ. Maybe I should re-publish this on my blog, because it’s quite detailed… I’ll try to do that this week.

Nadia,
Thanks! I did a guest post a while back at HomeSavvyAtoZ about Citra Solv… I’ll repost it tomorrow on my blog. I”m not sure about the different brands/types of Citra Solv – my bottle says just has the name and then says “natural cleaner and degreaser” {concentrated} in Valencia Orange. You can apply it to the back of your image with some paper towel and then use a spoon to burnish it {press VERY hard} to the fabric. Hope this helps!
