Welcome to Finder’s Keepers {Good} Friday everyone!
We just got back from the BIG Easter Egg Hunt at Vandusen Gardens. This event sells out quickly every year, so this year I made sure that I got our tickets early {and even despite my efforts, the morning session was sold out!!}. This seems to be the most popular of the Easter Egg Hunts in the Vancouver area. Last year my mom and I took the kids to the hunt at Stanley Park {near the petting zoo and train} and were quite disappointed. The hunt was in one of the barns and Livia did not really understand why she had to give back her plastic eggs at the end of the hunt {they are exchanged for a goodie bag with some treats inside}, and I know this made quite an impression on her because on the way to Vandusen this afternoon, she asked me if she’d have to turn in her eggs like last year…. it turns out that we did – but at least the treat was better… Purdy’s chocolate eggs and a few chocolate bunny lollipops. I think the process of having to give back the eggs you’ve just found and put in your basket is a little confusing for young children, but it seems to be the system that these places use. If you want a more “traditional” egg hunt, I recommend just doing it in your home or backyard.

I would still recommend this as a fun Easter activity for children between the ages of three and twelve. The older children get to hunt for their eggs in the large maze, which is quite exciting, and afterwards it’s nice to explore the rest of the grounds, especially on a beautiful day like today!!
Of course, on the way out I got a few minutes of browsing time in the fabulous gift shop…
See my toothbrush holder on the bottom shelf? I also love the three little garden pots with the tray in the middle – they’d look great on a kitchen windowsill!!
Hope you all have a Happy Easter Weekend!!
