I love using wall space whenever possible to keep things organized and keep counter tops clean and clutter free. We have a teeny tiny bathroom, so using the space wisely is a must. I wanted a practical AND unique solution to tooth brush holders. I’ve seen individual mason jar toothbrush holders on etsy, but did not want 4 individual holders to mount on the wall… so, I decided to come up with a family (value pack if you will) friendly version for our bathroom. During the summer, I’d grabbed a few old fence posts that were being discarded from a house being torn down. I was originally thinking of making signs out of them and still might, but I also thought this could be a perfect solution for tooth brush storage. I cut down one of the pieces of fence with a small saw and sanded it down. I painted it with some ASCP old white and distressed it and coated it with poly acrylic. I drilled two small holes {to mount onto wall} and then bought 4 – 3 inch metal hose rings {the kind that you can loosen or tighten}.
The rings have small rectangular slits at the back, through which I hammered small finishing nails to secure my wood base.
Since measuring is not really my thing, I just eyeballed the spacing between the rings… I think it looks pretty good.
Then I inserted my pint size mason jars, tightened the rings and mounted the whole thing to the wall. It was very easy and I love having the free counter space AND an interesting and unique piece in the bathroom!
At this point, I felt like the wall looked too bare, so I stenciled on “smile.”
The burlap bag holding the toilet paper is from Decor Steals and the white vintage mirror is from Homesense.
PS – I like the clear mason jars, but have been toying with the idea of painting them in old white, then layering the grey {like the bathroom walls} over top and distressing them… we’ll see.
