Ballard, Ballard Knock off throw pillows, Citra Solv, Damask, Homemaking, Linen, Martha Stewart, Restoration Hardware, stencil
I think I’ve mentioned this before… I can’ find Citra Solv (for graphic to fabric transfers) anywhere!! If you know where to buy it, PLEASE let me know!! In the meantime, I’ve given up looking and have had to change my plans for a few projects that I had in the works.
In October, my sister gave me some lovely sand colored linen that I’ve made into throw cushion covers for my sofa. Originally I wanted to transfer some french mercantile graphics onto them, like the ones I’ve been drooling over in the Restoration Hardware catalog. After stenciling my curtains (the Ballard knockoffs) I decided to do the same for the cushions and am very pleased that I did! I like them a lot and who knows… maybe by the time I get my hands on some Citra Solv, I’ll be ready for a change….?!
These covers are VERY simple. I’m not fond of sewing and can only do the basics. I cut out two squares just slightly larger than my inserts and cut one of the two pieces of linen in two (making one slightly larger than the other). I then hemmed the edges of these two pieces, overlapped them on the back of the other large square piece and sewed it all together. No zippers or buttons… just squeeze that sucker in! Easy peesy lemon squeezy.
I used the same damask Martha Stewart stencil that I used for the curtains, but added another small stencil at the bottom (from the same collection). I think they tie in nicely with the curtains in the living room, probably more so than the graphic images!

They look gorgeous! I am featuring tomorrow at my linky party. Thank you so much for sharing. Happy New Year! -K
PS Do you have an Aaron Brothers art supply store? They sell Citra Solve at mine. I would check the art supply stores in your area, I bet you might find it there. Good luck!

Thanks! No, we don’t have an Aaron Brothers. My sister found some though, and gave it to me for Christmas!!

Gorgeous cushions.
I couldn’t get Citrosolve here in Australia but did find an equivelent product at the supermarket. It was an orange cleaning agent and worked exactly the same as the Citrosolve. You may have something similar there too.
Merry Christmas
