Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you are all having a good weekend. I was able to get out on Saturday and visit two wonderful vintage markets and an organic blueberry farm, and had a great time! Any of you who’ve been reading my blog for a little while have probably figured out that I really have a thing for mason jars. Love, love, love them! So, I decided to make these metallic animal ones. Aren’t they CUTE?! Very West Elm-ish don’t you think? These were so EASY to make. I bought a couple packages of small plastic animals at the dollar store and glued them to the lids…
At first I used hot glue, but later noticed that a few of the animals were already starting to come loose, so I decided to glue them all on again using gorilla glue (how appropriate!). This worked better. Then I sprayed them with a couple coats of metallic spray paint and voila!!
I can’t decide which one is my favourite…
I can picture these in a child’s bedroom with all of their little treasures stored inside… or in a primary classroom {maybe my own!} holding things like erasers, crayons, paper clips, elastic bands… so many possible uses!!
Actually… I think the moose is my favourite.

Of course…..I like the moose the best 😉 They are cute and oddly, something that has been on my DIY list as well! In the future when you are gluing, use the website This to That and it will tell you exactly which adhesive is correct for your project! It has saved me a lot of time and aggrivation. Stop by and say ‘Hi’ sometime 😀
Thanks for the tip about which adhesive to use, I will check that out!! Thanks for popping by!
They are so cute!! You did an amazing job, as usual !! 🙂
This really is adorable, such a clever idea. They are just perfect for on top of the mason jars. These would look good in the kitchen too, or bath! So glad you shared your creative inspiration with Sunday’s Best – your creativity helped make the party a success!
I have been painting plastic animals white today, but after reading your post, I may go back to repaint with a metallic. Yours look so much better. Came over from Charmer.
Donna,
I was thinking about painting some white as well!
These are too adorable!! You’re so creative 🙂

I think they would look great in the kitchen too – filled with beans, lentils, walnuts, or anything else (dried peas) that comes in plastic bags.
What a cute idea! Love them for a kids room… I think I like the gorilla best 😉
He is cute. 🙂

What about using them for animal crackers? Tee hee
Clever and cute! Any child would love this collection 🙂
