Decorating with letters and numbers is all the rage right now, and I really like the zinc ones at Anthropologie, just not the price! I’ve seen the DIY version floating around too… Kim at Too Much Time on My Hands has a good tutorial on how she made hers, and I had most of the same materials… she used ASCP dark wax, but I had Valspar antiquing glaze at home, so I used that instead, and loved the way it turned out.
I bought my paper mache/cardboard letters at Joann’s. They are the 8″ letters and cost $3 each. I used Krylon metallic spray paint, sanded them lightly to give them an aged look, and then finished them off with the Valspar glaze.
I haven’t decided if I will give them as gifts or add them to my Christmas decor around the house…

I saw Kim’s too. I love this idea. I have to say, I like the glazed finish better. It makes them look more aluminum I think. Love it!
